Atlanta Travel Guide
In the fall Brian and I took a trip to Atlanta to catch a concert and visit some family. It was our first visit Atlanta and we really enjoyed our time there. Atlanta has all the typical offerings of a big city like great restaurants, awesome museums, & neighborhoods ranging from posh to eclectic.
Our first evening we went to King & Duke in Buckhead where we were staying and the food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect for a rainy fall evening. One of my favorite activities we did in Atlanta was go to the botanical gardens, it was incredible to see all the large form hedges shaped like mermaids and dragons. While we were there they were installing all the lights for the Garden Lights, Holiday Nights installation that i can only assume is spectacular!
We later went to brunch at Ladybird which featured classic southern faire and a lot of outdoor seating which was ideal for the sunny autumn day.
Brian and I explored Ponce City Market where we ducked in and out of local shops. We weren’t hungry but we couldn’t resist trying fancy cocktails at one of the dozens of little bars on the food hall style floor. Later we took the Bird scooters for a ride down the beltline trail.
I think my favorite meal was at South City Kitchen, we shared the fried green tomatoes and I had the Cesar salad and it might have been the best salad ever, seriously my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
The High Museum of Art is a really funky place to spend an afternoon, it’s huge but it’s especially known for the contemporary art. We started on that floor and made our way down.
We planned the trip around catching The Chainsmokers concert in Atlanta because my husband and I had wanted to see them for a while & we missed they’re concert in Raleigh a couple years ago. We had such a blast dancing and singing along. It was such an entertaining show & even included a motorcycle cage!
We really enjoyed our weekend in Atlanta, it was just the ticket for a weekend getaway! Now that we are entering a new year I’m excited to plan more weekend getaways and next on my list is Charleston! Are you planning any weekend getaways for 2020? Comment below!
