What is Virtual Design?
Do you want your home to look like all those dreamy homes you see on Instagram? Are you overwhelmed trying to find the right furniture and the right layout for your space? Do you feel like you’re always buying things from Homegoods but your stuggling to create a cohesive style? Virtual Design can help, today I want to take a closer look at one of my favorite services. You may be curious about what exactly virtual design is and what it includes so I wanted to walk you through some of the basics as well as answer common questions about this type of service.
In the virtual design service package we will start by having a consultation. This can be done in person if you are local or it can be done over a zoom meeting if distance is a factor. We will discuss needs, wants, and pain points in your space. You can choose to focus on one room or we can take on multiple rooms. Sometimes clients have furniture they would like to keep and work with in the final design, this is especially true with virtual design. For example perhaps you have a relatively new sofa and you would like to focus on cohesive accent furniture to compliment it. Please share what pieces you will be keeping so I can make the best possible selections. If you have budget for the project this is also the time to share that so I am selecting pieces that work within that budget.
In addition to furniture selections virtual design services can include things like art and accessories. It can include fabric selections for reupholstering an existing piece. It can also include paint and wallpaper selections and even lighting. It’s up to the client to determine the scope of work and some people simply need furniture and layout while some like suggestions on paint and wallpaper included in the final design.
Once we have determined the scope of work in the initial consultation you will receive your contract and then when that is completed we can officially start our design process together. I will collect the measurements for local clients and distance clients will have to send basic room measurements with my instruction. With these measurements I can create a 2D floorplan that will help with spacial planning and provide you with a proper to scale furniture layout.
I will spend time designing and selecting just the right pieces for your space. The curation process is my favorite part! I love using my creativity to visualize what the rooms can become. I will pay attention to details like finding performance fabrics in high traffic areas and providing appropriate storage. I will thoughtfully offer my best recommendations to suit the space. I always take into account the client’s tastes, preferences and lifestyle. I want to create a beautiful space that will reflect your unique style and function for your family.
You will be presented with your 2D layout and design board these will be sent to you as well. I will also provide shoppable links to all the furniture selections and any other details like paint or wallpaper. This is the MAIN difference between virtual design and the signature design service. The benefit to virtual design is that you can purchase the furniture on your own timeline. If you want to order one piece at a time it’s entirely up to you! You will be the one ordering and installing the design I provide. Virtual design will not include White glove Installation, I will share more about that in a separate post.
Recap the virtual design package includes a consultation, furniture, paint, and fixture selections, a design board, 2D rendering with layout and shoppable links for you to order furniture on your own timeline.. This package is our most affordable entry level price point. I think this package is a great option if you have never worked with an interior designer and you’re interested in dipping your toe into the design world. This is also a great package for someone who has a tricky spot that they are having trouble designing for example a formal dining room or formal living room. Perhaps your primary bedroom has always been the last room to get love and attention. This package would be great to transform a primary bedroom into a luxury retreat.
