charleston travel guide

Charleston, SC has been high on my list of cities to visit in the south. We had a getaway last spring that had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. There was a lot of build up to this trip and i have to say it did not disappoint! I absolutely fell in love with this charming city.

I’m going to share all of our favorite spots that we visited and offer inspiration in planning your trip to the Holy City!

Stay

We stayed at The Mills House on Meeting Street, we made this selection based on the great location, pool, and beautiful aesthetic, I couldn’t resist the pink exterior & the courtyard. We left the car in the valet the entire trip opting to walk everywhere and take in the city!

Eat

I am a brunch gal especially on vacation and we enjoyed both Millers All Day and Husk for brunch. Brian and I agreed that our favorite meal was dinner at Magnolias. The food was outstanding as was the service! We also enjoyed seafood at The Darling Oyster Bar.

drink

I was so obsessed with Camillias (located in Hotel Bennett) that we went twice! Once in the evening as the Champagne Bar and once for Afternoon Tea, both experiences where phenomenal. It’s the perfect instagramable and femme spot! We also enjoyed The Rooftop at The Vendue with views of the city and tasty cocktails.

do

It was so hot during our July visit we would walk around and explore in the mornings but by the afternoon we were happy to simply enjoy a cocktail in the pool or the air conditioning of Happy Hour at the Barbados Room our hotel restaurant. We did enjoy doing some damage shopping on King’s street, and of course the candy colored Rainbow Row. There are all kinds of walking tours and carriage tours if you want to learn about the History of Charleston.

With the delicious food scene, romantic streets, and lush gardens it’s easy to see why I loved Charleston,SC. I will definitely be returning, perhaps when the weather is a bit cooler though.
